Standard Terminology
MESH COUNT: The numbers
of apertures or wires per lineal inch. Most meshes are square
and will have the same count in both warp and weft
WARP: The wire running
lengthwise in a roll of mesh
WEFT: The wires running
across the width of the roll
OPEN OR FREE AREA: The
proportion of the aperture expressed as a percentage of the whole
area
SELVEDGE: The finished
edge formed by looped weft wires at either side of the cloth
MICRON: = 1/1000 mm
